New Year's Eve 2024
Golden Fire Dragon & Lantern Parade
The Honan Shaolin Association partnered with the City of Calgary Arts and Culture Partnership in the Golden Fire Dragon and Lantern Parade to celebrate New Year's Eve 2024.
The Honan Shaolin Association is a non-profit organization known for traditional Shaolin martial arts and the Golden Dragon Dance from Henan Province. While the fire/incense parade dragon is not part of their tradition, the team showcased a Golden Fire Dragon in this year's parade. Variations of this kind of dragon performance can be found in a number of villages across China, highlighting the diversity of this cultural practice.

What We Do
The Honan Shaolin Association offers its members traditional Shaolin martial arts training and dragon dancing.
Adult Dragon Team
Auditions
Everyone is welcome to audition! There are no fees for joining the team; the only requirement is to bring your enthusiasm, commitment to bi-weekly practices, and participation in occasional public performances. No experience is required.
• Learn on the go and execute a new skill within a short timeframe.
• Physical fitness
• Learn basic dance movement patterns (舞龍).

Everyone ages 7 and up is welcome to join! There are no fees for joining the team; the only requirement is to bring your enthusiasm, commitment to weekly practices, and participation in occasional public performances.
Parental supervision required.
