Mary discussing the history of our Shaolin tradition with Master Woo - Brooklyn, New York 1992
Mary McKay is a 65th-generation instructor of Honan Shaolin. She began her martial arts training in the late 1970s, studying the Hung Gar style under her Uncle Mon Wong. She furthered her skills by studying taekwondo under Master JJ Lee and My Jong-Law Horn, taught by Sifu Alex Kwok. In 1983, she was among the first to study at the Canadian Branch of the Honan Shaolin Association. By 1993, Mary had passed her instructor test conducted by Grand Master Chai Meng Woo in New York. She has been teaching at Honan Shaolin ever since. Over the past three decades, she has conducted a wide range of classes, including those for children, adults, and families. Additionally, Mary holds First Aid certification with the Canadian Red Cross. She strongly believes that martial arts is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, emphasizing that it's never too early or too late to start training.
