
WELCOME TO THE HOME OF TRADITIONAL SHAOLIN
The Honan Shaolin Hui 河南少林會 was founded in Shanghai by Shifu Jian Jin Shan (蕑金山師傅) circa 1910. In 1971 Shifu Woo Chai Meng (胡介民師傅 1912-2010), an instructor at the original Shanghai association, founded a not-for-profit association under the name Honan Shaolin Association, Golden Dragon Team™ 河南少林金龍會, in New York City. In 1984, Shifu Woo introduced the Shaolin Golden Dragon to the Calgary Chinese community in Canada. This first branch team was founded in 1983 and incorporated as a not-for-profit society as, the Honan Shaolin Cultural and Historical Association 1989.

Honan Shaolin Cultural & Historical Association
We are a not-for-profit Association that promotes traditional Shaolin martial arts and Golden Dragon Dancing through teaching, mentoring, practice, and performance. Practices take place at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre and at the Honan Shaolin Association gym.




Shaolin Wushu
Our Shaolin tradition traces its roots back to Shaolin Monastery in Honan Province, China. It includes martial arts training that includes both bare-hand fighting and use of ancient hand-held weapons.
Golden Dragon Team
Everyone ages 14 and up is welcome to audition! There are no fees for joining the team. The only requirement is to bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn this ancient tradition.
Little Dragon Team
Everyone ages 7 and up is welcome to join! There are no fees for joining the team. The only requirement is to bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn this ancient tradition.
Shaolin Golden Dragon Percussion Team
Everyone ages 14 and up is welcome to audition! There are no fees for joining the team. Previous musical experience is preferred.
