New Year's Eve
Golden Fire Dragon & Lantern Parade
Celebrate New Years Eve 2025 by joining us and the City of Calgary Arts and Culture Partnership in the Golden Fire Dragon and Lantern Parade on December 31. The parade will kick off at 10:00 PM from the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre and make its way to Prince’s Island.
The Honan Shaolin Association is a non-profit organization known for traditional Shaolin martial arts and the Golden Dragon Dance from Henan Province. While not part of their tradition, the team will showcase an Incense Dragon in this year's parade. This variation can be found in a number of villages across China, highlighting the diversity of this cultural practice.
Participants will receive Chinese lanterns to carry along with them.
This event is open to all ages, so everyone can be a part of this amazing and one-of-a-kind parade!

Fireworks Display: Midnight
Parade Route: From Cultural Centre to CPA Lot 59, through Bow River pathway in Prince’s Island Park, then back to Prince’s Island Park and make a loop at the field before heading back to Cultural Centre.

Auditions
Everyone is welcome to audition! There are no fees for joining the team; the only requirement is to bring your enthusiasm, commitment to weekly practices, and participation in occasional public performances. While no experience is required.
• Learn on the go and execute a new skill within a short timeframe.
• Physical fitness
• Learn basic dance movement patterns (舞龍).
• Willingness to commit and try new things.
• Participate in occasional public performances
